Happy Anniversary to The Sid Center!
June 19, 2022 is a day full of celebrations.
Today is a celebration of liberation.
It is Father’s Day. It is Juneteenth.
It is also The Sid Center’s Anniversary!
The business birthday of The Sid Center on Juneteenth
is intentional, because we are committed to the
healing, wholeness and liberation of Black men and boys.
We want to celebrate our Black fathers on Father’s Day
and everyday as we continue to liberate them from the
negative stereotypes of Black fathers in the mass media.
We are celebrating Juneteenth as a holiday that includes
festivals, cookouts and fireworks around the country.
But this special day is also a reminder that begs the
question every Black person must answer:
Are you really free?
As The Sid Center celebrates its anniversary,
the honest answer to that question is the reason
we know we still have a lot of work to do to
help Black men and boys achieve healing, wholeness
and liberation. We must achieve liberation before
we can realize true freedom.
