I have heard numerous horror stories about Black fathers being treated unfairly in family court.
The child support issues and restricted access to their children contribute to toxic co-parenting situations.
Some men have expressed hatred for the mother of their children because of their toxic co-parenting situation. The SAD side of toxic co-parenting is that it can make you Stressed, Anxious and Depressed.
If you are consumed with hate it can eat away at your soul.
Toxic co-parenting can have a negative impact on not just your financial health,
but also your physical, spiritual and mental health.
It also has a negative impact on the children in the middle of their parent’s war.
I have seen Black boys struggling to survive their parent’s war because they feel
pressured to choose between their mother and father. They feel like they need
to become the man of the house for their mother because their father is no
longer present. They also feel anxious about maintaining a relationship with
their father, and spending as much time with him as possible.
The hard work required to heal a toxic co-parenting relationship is necessary,
because it will help the children involved thrive as they grow up.
Even if the only healing that is possible right now is resolving the hatred,
it will improve your well-being. It will also improve the co-parenting relationship
and create a healthier environment for the child.
